MKSafeNet represents a pioneering step in North Macedonia’s digital security, through which the country’s first National Safer Internet Centre is being established.
This innovative project is transforming online safety, setting a new standard for protecting children and young people in the digital space. With the establishment of this centre, North Macedonia not only fills a crucial gap in its digital infrastructure, but also aligns with leading European practices, opening a new chapter in the national cybersecurity strategy.
The project stems from the Digital Europe programme, focusing on supporting National Safer Internet Centres in EU Member States and candidate countries.
What is the goal of the project?
The main goal of MKSafeNet is to ensure a safer digital experience for children, providing tools and knowledge for responsible use of digital technologies and services. The project aims to strengthen national capacities in offering guidance, advice, and support for safe internet use. Additionally, MKSafeNet is dedicated to establishing strong support mechanisms for victims of cyberbullying, children with special or specific needs, including those from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds.

The project is designed for a wide range of target groups, including children and young people, parents, teachers, guardians, and other key actors in society. Special emphasis is placed on children from vulnerable groups and those with special needs, ensuring an inclusive approach to digital safety.

The main focus of MKSafeNet is the establishment of the first comprehensive National Safer Internet Centre in North Macedonia. The project seeks to enhance existing initiatives from both the public and private sectors, improve the services offered, facilitate access to age-appropriate content, and raise awareness about online safety.
